Supercharging 03 gm 3800 in monte carlo
Ok had a gen2 integra b17 on boost for about a year and sold it.Since then got a daily driver 03 jeff gordon monte carlo ss.GM 3800 motor.I cant take the sluggish weak v6 anymore so I want to supercharge it.Im experienced with FI installs I just have no idea where to find the parts i need. What exactly will I need ? ECU,supercharger, injectors? Stock bolt-on parts from the exact motor supercharged would be nice if possible.Im guess the differences in my engine and in the supercharged monte ss are only the eaton m90 itself, maybe injectors, and managment.IS the intake mani the same, and will i need anything else.ANy help in a direction to begin in would be appreciated.K thx!

Re: Supercharging 03 gm 3800 in monte carlo
Well look on summit racing they have superchargers for about any gm motor.
On the engine managment i'm not sure theirs a lot of tuning software out for gm ecu I just don't know about yours it could be as simple as larger injectors a Maf sensor and fpr. look around in some domestic car forums. Do some google searchs looking yourself helps a lot. Most of the people in here are into imports or mustangs. myself I just love cars no matter where their from.
I think once you look into it a little harder you'll find what you need to know and your car probably isn't any harder than a honda to boost and tune right.
I bet a supercharger and ecu from a GTP would work on your car.

if its a gm 3.8 just go to the junk yard and buy all the components from a gtp their the exact same thing ...buy the injectors supercharger and ecu ..maybe a few little things..like sensors and stuff ...then after that buy a new belt and al new gaskets and you have boost ...just do some homework and you can figure it out

Re: Supercharging 03 gm 3800 in monte carlo
Ive done a lot of searching actually and only found one weird looking turbo kit that was 3k with no fuel managment.SOmehow I always find myself back on HMT trying to do things bootleg style.
I noticed that a lot of the 3800 series ---- was said to be interchangable, but there are so many different ones and so many loose opinions on the internet and I want to be positive on what i need.Whos better to trust than you guys?
I was hoping maybe someone here had seen or heard something.Im not feeling the turbo thing actually.I think the stock supercharger kit is what im really looking for.CAI and possibly exhaust.Im not looking to race I just want some go and I miss the sound of my BOV.Maybe a whine would cure that.Any GTP has a stock setup that would bolt-on?
I bought this car with no intentions of tuning it because it has no potential and now here i go again. Thanks for the suggestions and help, especially the end myself dale style.I would love to find a write-up on a custom install but ive looked endlessly with no results.

After looking around I saw this and it kind of makes me change my mind on this. The Supercharged 3800 has different compression ratios and more. What do you guys think? Any danger throwing a kit on my motor?
3800 Series II & III 90° V6
1995-04? 3800 Series II SFI V6 vin K RPO L36
SS N/A
200-205hp @ 5200 rpm
225-230tq @ 4000 rpm
9.0-9.4:1 Compression
FWD and RWD, balance shaft, crank driven oil pump, DIS, hydraulic roller camshaft, integral PCV, roller rocker arms
22 lb/hr injectors
1996-04 3800 Series II Supercharged V6 vin 1 RPO L67
SS Supercharged
240hp @ 5200 rpm
280tq @ 3600 rpm
8.5:1 Compression
FWD, balance shaft, crank driven oil pump, DIS, hydraulic roller camshaft, integral PCV, roller rocker arms, M90 Supercharger
36 lb/hr injectors
2004-?? 3800 Series III Supercharged V6 RPO L32
260hp @ 5400 rpm
280tq @ 3600 rpm
8.5:1 Compression
FWD, balance shaft, crank driven oil pump, DIS, hydraulic roller camshaft, integral PCV, roller rocker arms, M1?? Supercharger, powdered metal connecting rods
Special notes considering the 3800 Series II engines: The series II 3800 is a redesigned version of the 3800 V6. The Series II block has a shorter deck height, symmetrical design cylinder heads & cross-bolted main bearing caps among most of the major differences it has with it's predecessor. The Supercharged version of the Series II engine shares the same crankshaft and heads as the naturally aspirated version but the heads on the SC version have bosses machined for injectors, and the crank is balanced differently because the SC version has beefier connecting rods and pistons. The SC pistons are also of hypereutectic casting and have a thermal coating on their tops designed to reflect heat back into the combustion process.
