Tial Knockoff Wastegate question..?!?
okay, i have a question about my wastegate.. I just picked up off this dude tonight, and its a tial knockoff.. There is a hole on top of the wastegate, and one on the side for vacume.. I hooked up to to see if it worked, (just poped hood, ran a line to the wastegate). Anywho, the hole on top looks like it had a screw or some thing in it, so i plugged it up with my finger, it had a vacume coming from there.. I gave it gas from inside the engine bay, and it doesnt move. When i rev it somewhat high, not close to redline or past vtec (5300) it like BEARLY opens, like BEARLY at all.. The guy said it has a 9 1/2 spring in it, would that be why its not opening? I had my turbonetics wastegate set at 6 and it opened when i reved it. Would it just have to be at a higher RPM or be at a load for it to open? Any way to lower the wastegate less than 9 1/2 pounds?? I was thinking take the spring out, and cut a few coils? Yes, n00b at this ---- so flame on. I just want a legitament answer..I also picked up a revhard manifold, log style. It has both t3 and t4 flange holes so both types of turbos will fit, anyone know if this manifold is ac compatable?? This is a B series manifold btw. Any type of help would be greatly appriciated!!
Thanks!

Rodney

no load on the motor my buddys internal is the same way you can rev it up all the way and it makes no boost in nuetral and no bov sound .. most wastgates are like that ..that we have ran anyways (mostly internal)

shouldnt it be open though? then when you give it has, or when its ideling. I thought when you gave it gas, or put load on the motor, it closed to get air going though the turbo... Mine stays shut, not open so there isnt any exaust coming out where the dump tube should be. Should it be like that?? HELP!

Leave the top open. It is for Electronic Boost Controllers.
The WG should stay closed until boost. If you Turbonetics opened you must have a small turbo to cause you to build boost of a rev.
Don't cut the spring. Buy a new one. Why are you going from a good WG to a SSAuto Crap one?

But i dunno. So since the top is sucking, is that fine? Like it has a vacume coming from the hole on top

If you plug the hole the WG will not open. If you have vacuum coming from the top hole at idle, I would tend to think you have a hole in the Diaphram.
And if you do, congradulations, you bought a SSAuto product that did what it is know for, ask hotrex, his motor spit itself apart because of this. Feel lucky it did it now and not at WOT on the Highway!!!
