wastegate question
Hello everyone , i'm new to this forum , and so far all i've read and seen is awsome but after searching around for a while i have to ask a quick question about a turbo i got here ... it's a garrett ta0310 ( off of a 300d ) it uses an internal wastegate with a pressure hose connected on the compressor side of the turbo .
My question is ... how can i know the psi the wastegate fully open at if it use the vaccum of the compressor instead of using an actuator arm ?
Can i change the vaccum line and replace it with an actuator but for that i would need a new exhaust housing wich i dont know how to fit since it has a 8 bolt pattern kinda odd heh ?
woops yeah after re reading the thread it was 2 question
later today i sould be able to put up picture of it ... i really want to see this turbo working and i'm pretty sure you guys could help me out .

Re:wastegate question
Welcome to the site.
From what I gather, you are trying to use a turbo from a disel mercedes. What application is this being used for? You probably won't find that much support in parts for use with that turbo, if you are looking into replacing things. The exhaust bolt pattern will most likely be a custom fabricated job, take whatever parts you can from the donor vehicle.
I'm a little bit confused as to the direction you are going with the wastegate. Are you trying to retain use of the existing setup and gain more boost? There is most likely a source on this car to find out factory boost settings, find the year and some more details and go from there.

Re:wastegate question
the donor car was a 85 mercedes 300d i still have the complete car .
Well the real question was , can i use the internal wastegate from this turbo to put on a f22a1 ? i already got the whole turbo setup exept for an external wastegate , so i tough i could use this one but was not sure how it was fully working ... i will try to get pics later today.
As for the spec of the turbo its a .42 AR compressor side and .48 AR exhaust side . but i did not find any place that say what the wastegate is set at.

Question 2: For some reason, I thought you were asking about how to change the boost PSI (boost controller). But I think you're looking to add an external wastegate and block off the internal one. If you don't want to buy a new exhaust housing, you can always weld the arm shut.

Re:wastegate question
well what i am really looking at is .. i have a wastegate that use a vacuum line from the compressor directly to the wastegate , there is no actuator arm to open the spring , it look like the spring is controlled by the vacuum line ....
It look like a wastegate at least lol ... i don't know if it is one .. that's why im confused ... or maybe something like a bypass valve ahah damn german ...
