Anyone else cringe anytime they see or hear the word "hella"?
Anyway, good choice on changing the railing. That metal railing was awful. Paint I don't agree with. I'm not much for the HGTV burnt orange/red bullshit. I'd have to surface the insides of those closets ASAP. That's really awful. One other suggestion would be to make sure you have a shop in the basement. Garage shops SUCK in the winter. I don't care if its heated, they suck. Basement shops are fantastic for young home owners. Set up a compound miter saw on a simple table, a table saw, some tool boxes, and a good bench and you will love life. Personally I'd rather hang around in a nice basement shop with a pool table, a bar, and a TV then some carpeted smelly basement that is trying to look like a Mexican night club. Overall I'm jealous of your place. What I'm going to get for $200kish will be probably 1500sq ft on a 1/3 acre if that. |

As far as the closets go, they are cedar closets they are supposed to be like that. And as for the shop, I'm more than likely going to be putting one in the storage room under the garage. :) |

You've officially spent $14,000 less than my house, and the basement itself is 100 sq ft larger than my whole house. That's only the beginning of why I'm punching myself reading this. That loft is hot ---- with lots of potential, as well as the area of storage above the garage. That's aside from living in the middle of nowhere, a dream I've always had.
If I were in your shoes, I would first post pics of my wife naked, and then attack one room at a time, start to finish as to not be overwhelmed. I would consider the whole house having a timeline of 7 years to be complete complete. I would put my interior designer, or whoever picked those colors 6 ft. in the ground, and put the guy who tagged the ceilings with the paint roller 7 ft in the ground. If the ---- ever hits the fan though, I'll paint the rest of the house inside/out for the basement living quarters. I come bearing guns, frozen food, and water. |
Re: Homemadehouse.com, HMT cribs version something.darkelvis' project house.56k
Small shops = bullshit. If the shop isn't at least 500 sq ft with all the space you have in your basement, it is worthless. You have a fair sized house and you seem to not mind doing work yourself. Do yourself a favor and setup a NICE shop area. Believe me, going from a house with a nice shop area to limited area is bullshit.
As for those closets, I thought they were just normal shitty flakeboard plywood. Still, cedar closet doesn't look like a cedar closet unless its made with tongue and groove cedar planks. Yes, it's more expensive and more time consuming, but the end result actually looks finished. Flakeboard....not so much. If they were basement or attic storage closets, flakeboard would be perfect. Master bedroom and a main hall closet, ehhhhh. With that all said, do what you can afford and like. Spending money on a closet when it is perfectly fine is bullshit. But to me, flakeboard looks unfinished. |

You might want to bump the nakey pics. I don't think I saw them.
I just thought of another reason to punch myself. You have a fucken runway in your neighborhood. I'm quite competent at the flight simulator 04 and always wanted to fly. Give me the airport code or coordinates of your house and I'll fly into your hood with a screen shot. Not sure if your house will be there, but.... |
