Re: laptop, vancouver/portland area
vista sucks try to avoid it
i've messed with three new laptops with vista and all three of the owners have had problems with it
dell still has winxp as an option, I guess having vista only was costing them too much for those well (under) paid tech support people in india.

Yes vista is gay and you need 100 billion megs of ram to get vista running at adecent speed lol. My dad just bought a gateway laptop for circuitcity in portalnd for $470 a couple days ago, then they make you buy some vista online training thing for like $39. Anyways it's an an Intel 1.6gig dual core processor, 80gig hard drive, cd burner dvd player, 512 ddr2 ram, it's nothing special, but if you looking for something somewhat new and cheap about $500 aint a bad price. I'd just find some place online to get cheap ram though, I'd go with at least a gig especially if you got vista. I would have searched online for a better deal, but he needed is soon, so having it shipped wasn't an option. I'd just check out best buy, circuit city, comp usa, etc... You should be able to find something.

have to do some more looking today, went to compus and circuit city and staples in jantzen beach and went to best buy on airport way. The one i wanted was out of stock and best buy was 350 more on it then compusa.
trying to spend from 900-1300 on it. the one i wanted was duo core 2 1.7gz , 2 gigs ram, gforce 256meg video card, 200 gig HD with built in webcam etc on it. it was a HP and it had vista, which im not a huge fan of. originally 1399 out the door +200 mail in rebate=1199 which isn't too bad for what it is.
