Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
Another thing...Smaller motors need to rev higher to produce power, there for there is more heat and friction being produced which will wear out the smaller motors faster...Another testiment to larger engines being better, stronger and faster....These are the facts and they are undisputed... Also with smaller liter sized motors seeking out good torque numbers is usually very difficult....Example when I last dyno'd at 300whp I also got over 400ft pounds of torque...What will the 4 banger show on the torque scale with a 300whp dyno? Torque is big for low rpm power....
Again, I do like smaller engines and am not shooting them down, but you guys have to admit bigger is better....Oh and it's the size of the wave that matters and not the motion of the ocean.... :8 The guys that say size doesn't matter and it's the motion of the ocean have small dick's.. You guys want to talk shop or talk head? I am smarter then most of you would think when it comes to engine power....I also do mostly all the work myself and am hands on... Before it's the "end" would any you like to blow me first? |

Anyone live in the Los Angeles area and would like to give my lexus Sc400 a run for my money over the weekend? I Got nothing going on this weekend and would love to race the 1/8 mile stretch......Never lost to a 4 banger yet, but want too...Infact I never lost to a 6 banger either......Can someone on this forum step up and shut me up please?....Actions speak louder then words... I'm a cool guy in person and won't give you ---- like I am doing on this thread...

I love my sc61.
I am so confident while running this turbo, I will get murdered off the line. but right around 4800rpm with vtec set at 6000rpm with a set of skunk 2 stage 1 cams or crower turbo cams, whhhhhhooooeeeee! that ---- is ------- mean. turbo full boost 21 psi at 4800 rpm, vtec kicks in at 6000rpm, cams start really aggressive at about 7000rpm,rev limit set at 9100rpm, 9600 if I am on the autobahn. launch control at 6000rpm, ftl at 7000rpm, ls/vtec, dont mean to brag but my only lost is to my best friend a boosted b16 running the same setup. I never beat him. but he is a better driver. |

Yeah, I said I can be caught, infact there is always a car out there faster then yours...I just haven't seen it yet in a 4 banger...That is all I am saying...Hard to catch someone once the 150 nos shot is running...But with enough traction, boost and power I can be caught.... I got wasted by a Viper once, went neck and neck with a new standard 400hp Vette up to 60mph which is hard to do in any Lexus...and I am not talking about the Zo6 Vette either.... Not bullshit either... If anyone can beat a new stock standard Vette on this thread 0-60mph then your car is faster then mine...Those Vette's are quick as ---- and grip well too.... |

Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
small cc engines are easier to rev out ...engines with small cc's that rev out with good head work are some times better than larger engines because the power output is the same and most small cc engines are way lighter than larger engines.....take a look at indy cars...open wheels...what itre are they huh?...ferrari's tiny v8's are you going to start bashing on some of the finest built engines ever built?....the 1uz-fe is perfect...it can be built for low end tourque or high end power...good for NA and boost its....like most motors its universal to mods...but its universal to everything...boost and NA...like hondas have trouble gaining na power but love boost....the 1uz will handle both mods and gain a decent amount of power...im done

Dude, you have some valid points but a higher reving engine is going to wear out or break down much faster...Also the LS1 has an alluminum block that is as light in weight as some big iron block 4 banger motors....The 1uz-fe is really a small 4.0 liter V8 motor but is an absolute tank of an engine. It is bulky and has a heavy iron block which weighs alot...The 4.0 liter 1uz...will need boost to make impressive power as where the LS1 motor will not....I can go on and on, but I do love the dynamics of the Toyota V8 motors...Built very solid and idle smoothe in comparison.. |
Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
a lot of the weight from ohc v engines is obviously in the head and extra cam(s).
|
Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
now we are getting somewhere yes i agree the 1uz does have its down sides but is still an awsome engine if built right so is the ls1...the 4.0 1uz makes power up high and the ls1 makes its power better down low...i like high end power you like low end power i assume...i know some ls1's or 350's with a 4 bolt main can also rev out really high but a high revving 5.7 doesnt rev out as smooth as the 4.0 because of rod length...depending on the power each engine puts out..the 4.0 can be just as superior as the ls1 depending on who builds it and what power goals they are trying to achieve...anyway its not the car or the motor its the driver and how much money you have..anything can be fast with the right amount of money...but you have to have brains
|
Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
Dildo - dude the 1uz-fe engines are very torquey lowend engines...It's the stock torque converters on the Lexus's that make them seem like they have no low end power...Sorry bro you are wrong with those comments......

Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
Hahaha, there's too much good ---- in this thread, I can't even decide what to reply to.
But I did gather that Paxton gets laid only by money-hungry women. Isn't it kind of assumed that a modern-day high displacement motor will have potential to be quite fast? http://www.inline-racing.com/louie/c...vs%20dodge.wmv This stock bottom end 4banger is pretty lame. Yup, built 4bangers can usually make around 400whp if you're lucky :S |
Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
either way
LSX> most engines in production today end thread |
Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
Especially a built LSx. It is possible to stretch one out to 499ci if you want to drop the dough on one. And Turdbo, regarding the higher end power, can't an LSx based motor get both high end and low end power as well? Maybe not in the 9,000+ rev range, but no street motor really needs to rev that high to make power.
Out of any production based motor, the Gen III LSx series small block Chevy motors have the most power potential. The LS7 comes un-optimized from the factory, and still manages to put out 505bhp. Take that, add a GM Performance Parts Stage III "Hot Cam" and a 1 3/4"-1 7/8" Stepped set of headers, and it will make another 100bhp. 100bhp naturally aspirated gained from a header/camshaft swap? Haven't seen a Honda or Lexus motor that responds that well to mods. If you are arguing about pure power potiential, the LSx motors are the best out there, bar none. And you can find an LS1 out of a Camaro or Firebird in the junkyard all the time. No Honda motor or Lexus/Toyota motor will ever have the power potential of an LSx motor, other than possibly the 2JZ-GTE out of the Supra's. Even then, it is still difficult to hit the power/torque curve marks the LSx's have been putting down since they came out. Hell, an LS1 powered Camaro SS can hit 11s on spray alone, nothing else, and not a big shot either. Toss some headwork and a cam at one, and 10's aren't that far away. More sub-11 second LSx powered street cars than anything else I think. So stop bitching about your freakin high-rpm power, because you can make a small block do that number as well. Think there was a Joe Sherman-built small block Ford build using Windsor based heads that made way, way, way more HP/CI than any N/A Honda I have ever seen (2.18/Ci) . Oh yeah, and it did it at a Honda-like RPM, 9,300. So you can't use the fact that you enjoy a peakier power band as a reason to completely bash V8 swaps. Efficiency goes hand in hand with larger displacement, because it is easier to make more power with more cubes. "...the 1uz-fe is perfect" Wait, no it is not. You are saying the 1uz-fe is a better motor than the LSx based motors? That just shows your ignorance. It isn't all that difficult to get an SBC to rev as high or higher than the Lexus/Toyota motor that paxton has in there now. And your comments about rod length, you act like you can't de-stroke a motor to rev higher. "the 4.0 can be just as superior as the ls1 depending on who builds it and what power goals they are trying to achieve..." Also ignorant, because how many high-hp setups do you see with the 4.0 Toyota? And how easy is it to make a boosted LSx based motor not drop under 1000 lb/ft throughout it's rev range? Versus how easy is it to make the 1uz-fe? I'd love to see that. All it takes on the LSx is a pair of snails, off the shelf heads, and some fuel management. Why were you bashing him for wanting to swap in a better motor to make his car a lot faster? Just because it isn't common doesn't mean it isn't a good idea. By the way, I love some of the higher-hp 4 cylinder builds, some of the things being done on SFWD K series and some of the Ecotec motors are amazing right now. I'd love to debate engines with you, but your thinking that the 1uz-fe is close to as good as the LSx series is just an ignorant statement. Henry Oh yeah, and because it seens popular... end thread. Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
Henry, once again you are god!!!! Extremely well said and accurate.......Dude, you know your LSx motors and I am pleased to see that there are some praises on these motors being stated on this forum....I thought it would be hard pressed for anyone on this forum to admit these motor pound for pound are very stout....I stll love the Xuz-fe motors too but they pail in comparison N/A speaking to the LS1's......
Weight, price, size, naturally aspired power, the LS1 motors are king..... |

Re: The LS1 Engine swap....
It's ok, nutswinger found a buddy that knows some v8 trivia. Who gives a ----. Does nobody else realize that it's useless to compare sub 2 liter Honda motors to 5.7L v8s? It's USELESS. Of course it's easier to make power, they have 3x the ------- motor. Big deal. Why are you even on this forum, when all you talk about is BIG MUSCLE NA IS GOD. ---- off. And your 1uz is sweet, I love those motors. Why don't you just build the motor? It's stock bottom end right? Have you had any port work done to the head. There's a lot left in it I'm sure. Or boost it. But there's no point to this thread, except to jizz on lsx motors. There's a million forums you can do that on...so yeah.
