My college gets you hired in an engineering position before you're even done with the degree, and even if it didn't, I know people that would get me a hired on somewhere as soon as I had the degree.

So much for knowing what you're talking about, again...

That's pretty much what my job description is, but instead of working for the gov't contractors (Boeing, Lockheed Martin/DS2, etc.) I work directly for the DoD/DOA. Different states have different pay scales, but as a contracted engineer working for the gov't you're pretty much guaranteed a nice 6-figure salary after a little while. Keep workin' at it, DoD was voted #1 best employer in the country for 2006, and the perks are great. Hell, I've even got a nice gov't all-expenses-paid trip to Germany coming up soon. 8)

Exactly why I'm finishing my "shitty" engineering degree at my POS university that requires more than calc 1 for a degree, so I can get an entry level six-figure job "plugging in cables and installing anti-virus software" for the government or one of its contractor.

My mother is a high pay scale employee on the redstone arsenal hiring for the government positions. Even if my university doesn't put me somewhere when I get my degree (everyone I've seen that's got an engineering degree there has a job), my mom will be able to put me somewhere, as well as friends that work for government contractors.

I'm happy at my shitty engineering city, which was rated one of the fastest growing cities in the southeast...if not the fastest. Horrible!
