Newest developments... After talking to Saenz... (The actual engineers in Argentina - not the "front" in theUS); they assured me that they would do anything needed to get it right for me... Gabriel was really cool, and kept up on email wtih me all day... This is the lowdown...

Dear Sir,

We apologize for the inconvenience, but may be only problem we are facing is the lack of the spacer between the 3rd and 4th gears.

There are just four prototypes with the spacer incorporated to the gear and unfortunately you have one. After the first issue we change to the separated spacer system in 2003.

We should have to send you a ID 33.7mm OD 42mm, 19mm length spacer to compensate difference in gear length. We are sending one, but if you are in a hurry, no special steel or heat treatment is required.

Second problem is the splines. We make gears in order to have not clearance in the shaft splines so a press is required to mount them. May be turning gear respect to shaft in order to change the splines helps. We have an Accord and Civic (splines are the same) shaft here and it was checked on them before sending to you.

Regarding the gear, internal diameter is 43.015 with a tolerance of +0.005. According to our records the one we have delivered to you is 43.019mm. So it would have to run also in the standard shaft.

Anyway you have the whole transmission there and if you say something is wrong and you could not use the parts we have sent we are ready to help you. We understand you are disappointed and we gently ask you to contact us and let us know what we can do for you.

We left Honda program when Alfred Nolan passed away as we considered without him we could not be able to give customers appropriated service, mainly when our own tolerances has to make parts fit in other makers one.

Thanks for your patience and I hope to hear from you.

Kind regards

Gabriel

FROM ME:

Gabriel:

Thank you so much for your quick reply!!!

Ya im really bummed out, but what you say makes sense and gives me hope! If you could send me one of those sleeves (quickly as possible) it would be great (I too see no real need for the heat treat for the sleeve - I can get that done up here quickly anyways if i change my mind, but dont think i will.), and am definately into getting it into my hands as QUICKLY as possible....

As for the firment issue with the splines; Ill take your word, but its going to be a pretty stout press fit. The other one wasnt nearly as tight as this one (I guess that it coould have loosened due to abuse over the years though huh. I will give it a whirl this weekend! If it goes on I guess ill suppose its good... Regardless of how tight. I just didnt want to damage the gear or the shaft (moreso the gear as I have a few shafts laying around, but it wuldnt readily go onto any... IF its ok to press it on i have no problem doing so... How much resistance should I see And the Accord shaft splines are the same as B series so it SHOULD fit. It makes me feel ALOT better knowing you guys actually tried it on a shaft!!!!

The last issue im concerned with is the mainshaft gear... It DOENS NOT fit the input shaft (specifically the roller beaaring) i have up here (the oem accord shaft). It wont fit over the needle bearing. Im Praying that the saenz shaft is different and uses a different bearing or something.... But I wont know till I get to the tranny later.

If I recall correctly The shaft you guys make is different, but now that I have dimensions it will make alot of this esier to figure out. Illl DEFINATELY take that sleeve from ya, if you could get it out ASAP.... Id greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Brian Spiker

Thats an A+ from me and made me really happy.... So, I went down and pulled the saenz mainshaft apart to see if the non splined gear would fit that shaft (It wasnt at my house to check it, I did against an OEM bearing... but it wasnt close...) so im glad that woked out... and indeed it is smaller inside the 3rd gear as well as the shaft is smaller than an OEM one as well... so the mainshaft 3rd is cool.

2nd issue: Splines were REALLY ------- tight... Found out they are a press fit (my other one just came off REALLY easily..) hammered her on and it was cool.

3rd issue that originally freaked me out the lack of the "shoulder": Mocked the tranny up... shimmed everything out... and as 19mm is basically 3/4", used a roll of electrical tape as a spacer (also 3/4"). As they said in the email 19mm puts everything JUST how it should be... SO once i get the sleeve, Im good to go with the straight cut box!!!! Now with LSD. I cant wait to feel it pull, Its going to pull ------- harder than EVER wsith all the ---- done now......

I CANT ------- WAIT.

Need to change the axles finally theyre getting pissed (at least the one thats had no boot on it for 4k miles is... LOL). They've been through a SHITLOAD!!! They kinda like mah magic legs... Momma said they'd take me anywhere!!! OEM prelude Axles FTMFW!!!!! WIll be using them again, at free-50 set out of the junkyard, cant beat em'. Im going to hold onto this JDM LSD tranny too, seems to be "LUCKY" too... Cant hurt to have a backup! Not for me at least....

Here she is. 3rd as shown a fesw posts above even LOOKS alot burlier (and looks to be heat treated, the old one was a funky color i dont think got treated... You can see it if you look in earlier posts

So does this spacer need splined inside or is it just a ring spacer? If it's just a ring ---- get me some dims and I'll turn one up, I don't do id splines

Edit: found it

find out what tolerances are needed and let me know if it's going to be weeks for them to send you theirs.
