that ---- is no good.. sounds like you had bad luck too although sounds worse than mine.. hopefully its nothing huge.

If it still runs it should be fine like xeno says most of the ticking should be valve lash although clank and number one plug arent happy things

id do a full tear down, I did the same 3-2 miss shift motor sounded fine right after but abour 100miles later it had a rod knock.

HEads almost off.. VC came off and all looks gud. Well see shortly here.....

Well.. We just got the head off. No dropped valves. the plug is just stuck... kinda wierd. Pistons did hit the head tho. So now its back down to pull the pan off. Spiker reported no oil pressure.

Oil pump gear probably exploded "I hope not" but thats why I bought the circuitworx unit.
