---- the VR6 swap and all that ---- just get a cheap 80's GTi Golf motor(16v) and rebuild it, even turbo that ....it will be fun, I love th old rabbits

Rabbits = cheap fun, cheap parts, no worries about beating them up.

Simplest way to have fun would be to get another gti motor or an engine from a mk2 golf/gti which has a little more compression and just keep the CIS injection setup in the rabbit. If you wanted to go a little hotter get an engine code ABA from the mk3 cars 93-98 cars and through your gti's head on it. Gives you really good bottom end and with the old head on it ups the compression to 10-10.5/1 more if you deck the head.

There is a cheap ass factory cam for the earlier heads (solid lifter) called the g-grind. Came in the 1.6 cars or you can buy it for under a hundred bucks. Really opens things up top.

16valve engines are good fun, really rev. If you can find one for cheap hit it up.

If you want to go boost and keep the old injection there is a bunch of factory stuff from audis/volvos that work well. Audi 5000 has a boost sensetive warm up regulator that gives the injectors (cough sprayers cough) more oomph when it sees boost. Also the older distributors can be made to retard igntion timing when boost comes on. And you want it richer just twist an allen key, mad tight tuning son. ;)

and all the engines will drop in the rabbits, cept the vr6....but

sweet, thats good ---- right there...I'll be crazy pumped if I get this car, so much to do to it. ;D I'm still waiting for him to get back to me...he's a bigtime VW fanatic(also has a 2k 1.8T), so he might be reluctant to give this one up eventhough he's not planning on restoring it. still got my fingers crossed
