Loosen the bolt holding it and then hit it gently with a hammer?

Honestly I don't know how the cam sprockets are fitted on a Honda, on my Suzuki the sprocket is just bolted to the cam with one bolt, and it has a grove in it for a locking pin.
If the cam sprocket slides onto the cam I'd try heating it and pulling it off.

Does it have a built in key or a woodruff key? I don't remember. Should pop right off.

Take bolt off, pull off cam gear, and put new one on. Don't loose the woodruff key and make sure your timing is right and not off a tooth or two.

hmmm...it should just pop out...as i could remember it's just held on by a bolt and aligned by a key. i gues some lube and and a love tap with a hammer should work.

uhmm is the bolt off?

if its not that is the problem.

if it is off, then the cam gear slides right off, as said above there is a woodruff key but it is built into the stock gear on most honda civic 88+

what motor/car is it?
