msd cap and coil, do i need 6AL/SCI
my ignition is getting a little old i suppose and blowing out the spark hardcore at 18psi and up. Before you ask, ive gapped the plugs to .022" already with less than desireable results during part throttle. I saw an egay auction for an msd cap, rotor, and coil. I figure its gotta be one of these that is weak. I know the plugs are good.

you dont need buy the ignition box to run an external coil.
just remove the internal coil run wires from there to the new coil.
you will have to change the wiring later when you run the msd box.

I've been running a MSD Blaster SS coil for 2 years strong now. You need the Blaster SS. Don't skimp and get a Blaster 1 or 2. You'll be sorry. I know I was.
As for the cap. You don't need an MSD either. Moddify a stocker. much cheaper and make replacements easier.

Also don't use the MSD Power Tower kit. Go to the parts store, find a Lawn Mower Spark plug (on any other kind) that have the threaded on plug cap, buy that and the same threaded bolt. Find a peice of plastic for the tower and vuala, $1.25 Power Tower!!

Alot of small motor spark plugs come with a top that threads off, just the little peice that a spark plug wire snap onto. Buy a plug with that on it, take that cap, and throw away the rest of the plug.
Next find a bolt or screw about 2-2.5" long with the same thread as the cap, (Something like M5x1.0 I think).
Next to turn those pieces into a tower like the MSD one, find a piece of plastic, could be the body from a pen if you wanted, but probably something that you plug wire will seam again, (we've used the tip from a clutch alignment tool an drill a hole through it).
With those parts follow the instructions in the link.
