im ordering the new windshield for my girls civic 91 what all do i need to buy ive read something about windshield primer ? and what type of caulking should i use any info and links to the stuff i need would be great thanks

Just ask your girl if she prefers black or white caulk. SIMPLE

+1 i looked into replaceing my old windshield.....not easy in any way.



$230 later i had one installed in my driveway in 45minutes, w/ a warranty. if (when i say if i mean when) you ---- up you'll just have to call someone to do it over anyways

 

its easy if you have the right tools, my cousins do it for a living and they can change one in about 30 minutes...

 

i paid 160 for my ef's windshield, and has a lifetime warranty as long as i own the vehicle.

 

since i weld for a living i geuss anyone who goes out and buys a welder automatically knows how to weld??

 

no but if you have any common since and know how it works you don't have to be a rocket scientist to do it, the only thing holding the windshield in a car is glue.....
welding take skill but almost anybody can takes things about and put them back together.....

 

ive done it b4 but it was 3 years ago to my brothers teg i know that didn't leak. i was super lazy and did it in a hurry. was also really drunk im thinking it was all luck ha but i want to do this one right. to install it most shops want from 260-340 i can order the new one for 140 but i need to know what other stuff i need caulking brand , striping,window primer ? i still dont know what kind to get or were to order it from.

what is the primer what ive read was its to help bond the caulking to the window.

also some shops say theres have a green tint to it and other's say it has a blue whats the dif if any i do rember that installing his quarter panel glass was more of a bitch then the windshield it self

also this will be installed in the out side with only a heat gun to help out so ive read that some caulk will work in the cold others wont

 

so you did it before and you cant do it now?
