yeah but last time i did it we used some black sticky thick striping stuff that cam in a roll and didn't use any type of primer that im reading about. but from what ive seen pics and in a few vids of an install they don't yous the sticky striping. some type of caulking so im thinking it would be better to use what ive been reading about so thats why im asking .

but from what you guys are saying im guessing no one on here has done it cuss no one has said flat out anything that really helps other then pay some one to do it but being this is hmt i thought you guys would know ill just have to ask the shop and pay there fucked price instead of ordering it online thanks anyways

 

they only charge 30 bucks to install the windshield..

considering the tools you need to do it properly.. cost alot more than that.. its not even ------- worth it

 

if its al ready out, trim the urethane down so its all the same thickness but you want to keep some there for bondage, your new windshield should come pre primed and if you go through on the old urethane to bare metal you will have to buy the primer, buy the urethane lay down a big FAT bead like 1/2x1/2 you only have ONE change to put it in or you will have a ------- retarded mess. two people set the bottom in and then lay it down evenly and press down and tape it on and you cant touch it for 2 hours @75 degree depends on the product you use.. we do it at work a lot..

I got a pos taurus for dirt cheap but it has a cracked windshield, the boneyard told me to pick on and they'll take it out all for $65. Think I might try it.

 

that black tape ---- is butal tape they used it on old ---- they only use urethane now.

 

dont forget to price out new window moldings from your honda dealer.

 

where do you buy the urathane ----?

 

I've replaced older cars windshields, but when I looked into getting one for a unibody car I was scared off by the urathane. So, i watched them put a windshield in my beretta and it was glued in with the urathane ----. they used a heater to prewarm the urathane and dude said it would be hard as ---- to work with if they didn't prewarm it first. maybe try a big pot of hot water? just an idea.

Fatty made it look really easy. I agree that you need a nice fat layer of urathane to set the window into, and you only get one chance at dropping it in. With the right tools and some common sense it should be doable.

And as a side note, be careful cutting the old window out. I had insurance replace the windshield in my truck, and when the guy pulled it out he showed me the frame all rotted out and the knife marks cutting through the paint that caused it (someone elses previous hack-job). He wouldn't warranty the windshield and said he was surprised it wasn't already leaking from all the rust holes and ----. Now i notice my headliner is all sorts of discolored from leaks
